London Museum Trip

Yesterday, our publishing group travelled to London to visit the Victoria and Albert museum, specifically to see the 60's Revolution exhibition. This started at around 2, so had some time before and after to explore other London museums, for example I also went to the Natural History Museum, as well as the Science Museum. Here are some pictures that I took during the day:

I really enjoyed the 60's Revolution exhibition because I like the music and especially the festival section within the exhibit. It was created so it felt like you were in a 60's festival, with live music and bean bags on the floor. It was also interesting seeing the different outfits that 60's stars wore and the scandals that happened during that time as well.

I also thought the Natural History Museum was fascinating, seeing all the dinosaur and extinct animals/mammals skeletons that use to live on earth.

The Museum of Bath at Work

On Thursday, we took a trip to the Bath at Work Museum. Our task was to sketch an image/s from observation, exactly how we see it. I chose to draw a window silhouette, here is an image from my sketchbook:

First I drew the window outline, then the tools and machinery, after that I filled in the outlines with a pencil. Eventually I would like to go over this in a black pen to make it a solid colour. It would also look more like a silhouette with a flat black, rather than using a pencil with shading.

Folklore Museum Logo Research

Today we started off with a tea stained piece of cartridge paper, a thin napkin from the college cafe and a fade proof, fine line black pen. The task was to design a folklore museum logo, however we will be getting marked on our research and our ability to develop our ideas rather than the finished product. Below is my main sheet of research that I created:

On this I included related words to folklore and what it made me think of, this was my initial research. Then I drew small images relating to the topic and to spark some further ideas, this was my idea development process. As well as this, we also collaborated as a group on what was good about our ideas or what needed to be improved.

Below are some logo thumbnail sketches I drew, to get a rough idea to what my final logo design would look like.

Here is the napkin that I practiced drawing/doodling on, this exercise was to make it harder to add detail to our drawings, as the ink would bleed out.
